kidney dialysis lawsuit, granuflo lawsuit, naturalyte lawsuit, kidney dialysis lawyer, kidney dialysis attorneyA recent awareness of granuflo and naturalyte acid concentrate has spiked an interest in the filing of a kidney dialysis lawsuit.  Granuflo is an acid concentrate used during the hemiodialysis (kidney dialysis) treatment.

Fresenius Medical Care makes GranuFlo acid concentrate powder and Naturalyte products. GranuFlo, a dry (powder) acid concentration is used in the dialysis process to help remove harmful substances from the individual’s blood stream in the same way that a fully functioning kidney would normally do.

Unfortunately, the FDA recently (March 29, 2012) issued a class 1 recall of Naturalyte and Granuflo Acid Concentrate noting serious potential health issues that may occur as a result of the use of this product.

A kidney dialysis lawsuit against Fresenius Medical Care North America Inc., Fresenius Medical Care Holdings Inc., Fresenius USA Manufacturing Inc., Fresenius USA Marketing Inc. and Fresenius USA Sales Inc. may allege the following:

  • utilization of a dialysis product called GranuFlo or Naturalyte in the treatment for patients with late-stage kidney failure
  • The product, which is manufactured by defendant Fresenius, is designed to allegedly perform the function of human kidneys by cleansing and removing waste from the blood
  • Allegedly the solution of fluids in the granuflo an/or natrualtye acid concentate manufactured by Fresenius may be known to cause metabolic alkalosis – which causes an increased risk of cardiopulmonary arrest and sudden cardiac death

While using a GranuFlo and/or naturalyte and immediately following kidney dialysis treatment, the kidney dialysis patient suffered a sudden cardiopulmonary arrest and a heart attack

Kidney dialysis patients that use GranuFlo or naturalyte may be exposed to potential health complications, including:

  1. Low Blood Pressure
  2. Cardiac Arrhythmia
  3. Heart Attack
  4. Stroke
  5. Metabolic Alkalosis
  6. Sudden Death
