Sanchez, Transvaginal Mesh, Boston Scientific, Pelvic Organ Prolapse case documents what many users of transvaginal surgical mesh to treat pelvic organ prolapse, stress urinary incontinence and other ailments may be experiencing today – complications that may include vaginal discharge, painful intercourse, bleeding, pelvic pain, migration, infection and cramping. The court ruled in favor of the Plaintiffs in the case.

A brief summary of the facts include:
- This case resides in one of seven MDLs assigned to me by the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation concerning the use of transvaginal surgical mesh to treat pelvic organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinence.
- In the seven MDLs, there are over 60,000 cases currently pending, over 13,000 of which are in the Boston Scientific Corporation MDL, MDL 2326.
- In this particular case, plaintiff Roseanne Sanchez was surgically implanted with two products manufactured by defendant Boston Scientific Corporation (“BSC”): the Pinnacle Pelvic Floor Repair Kit (the “Pinnacle”) to treat pelvic organ prolapse and the Advantage Fit Transvaginal Mid-Urethral Sling System (the “Advantage”) to treat stress urinary incontinence.
- The plaintiffs allege that as a result of implantation of the Pinnacle, Ms. Sanchez experienced several complications, including vaginal discharge, painful intercourse, bleeding, pelvic pain, and cramping.
Surgical pelvic mesh, manufactured with polypropylene and intended for transvaginal insertion, is known by many names, including:
- Transvaginal Mesh

- Transvaginal Tape
One use of the transvaginal mesh support system is to help with pelvic organ prolapse (uterine prolapse), which sometimes occurs in women after childbirth or surgery, which causes the womb to fall into the vaginal area.
One particular system used in vaginal organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinence surgery is the Bard® Avaulta vaginal mesh support system manufactured by C.R. Bard. Other transvaginal mesh support system Johnson & Johnson/Ethicon, Inc., American Medical Systems, Boston Scientific, C.R. Bard, Coloplast, Caldera Medical, and others –
